Report from the Rev. Erhard Ufermann
Outrage
Every day we are busy with news from Brussels to the everlasting financial crisis : Greece manages to make it or not . Italy wobbles .
Spain endeavors . Cyprus gets money . For three years rushing leaders and finance ministers from one crisis summit to the next. Driven by rating agencies that calculate the time and decay value of whole economies and the European project.
In addition to our attention to the financial crisis binds gigantic resources that are not available to the fight against poverty . These funds will be spent today in the maintenance of a system that is to blame for the current crisis while still deserves it.
Each day, more than 25,000 people around the world as a result of their malnutrition. Mostly children. ” A daily , silent genocide ” as the Swiss sociologist Jean Ziegler formulated . Hunger is not inevitable . He is politically desirable . Hunger arises only due to unjust distribution and exploitation. We’ll take him in the truest sense of the word ” in buying ” . The survival of the day starving people could be saved with an amount that would be in the boardrooms of the banks hardly worth mentioning .
You may say that this was the morning cooking heavy foods while brushing your teeth or coffee. Maybe you’re right. But rather heavy fare , as nothing in the stomach.
The state of our world is homemade. We live as if there is no connection between the starving children in the southern hemisphere and the hopelessness of many people among us in rich Europe . When our own alienation had nothing to do with our economic system. There are no coincidences , no godly poverty , no fate in the question of whether we have our wealth and other earned their poverty. They exist, the relationships between local and global action , between perpetrators and victims.
” I desired mercy , not sacrifice ,” said God in the mouth of the prophet Hosea thousand years ago more than 2 ½ . That was anything but naive. There was war at the time. The Prophet asked for a different law and sense of justice . A completely new system . 700 years later , Jesus understands aware of this tradition, a necessary change of political thought and action . Scale were alone justice and love. Faith brings about in this sense fruit. No victims.
The French writer and Resistance fighter Stéphane Hessel writes in his famous booklet ” Outrage! ” From the year 2010: “New to create means to resist. Resist means creating something new . ” Within six months, a million copies were sold of this booklet worldwide . They are apparently still : the longing for change, for justice and love. It can not go on like this . There has to be something new.
Or we have lost faith in being able to change something in this so complicated become globalized village? Have we really lost faith ? My God ! ?
Spot on with this write-up, I absolutely believe this web site needs far more attention.
I’ll probably be returning to read more, thanks for the info!
A motivating discussion is definitely worth comment. I believe that you should publish more on this subject,
it may not be a taboo subject but typically people do not speak about such issues.
To the next! Cheers!!
