Deforestation at record low

Good news from the South American continent.

Satellite records indicate that the clearing and deforestation of the rain forests in South America is at its lowest level since 1988. This is thus the lowest value since recording for about 25 years. Was it in 2004 for about 28,000 square kilometers , this value for the year 2012 amounts to only about 4,500 Quadradkilometer . The Brazilian government is seeking to reduce this ratio by 2020 to even 3,900 square kilometers. This is the world pretty much the only good news in terms of climate change.

The rainforests of the world not only provide a great habitat for resident animals, they are also responsible for vegetation , rainfall and climate. The deforestation of rain forests leads to drying of these areas and can thereby be completely extinct every day on average 137 animal and plant species. Also, large areas are burnt to provide land for livestock , plantations, and agriculture.

Have the largest trees on the seaweed proportion of oxygen production in the world. If this stock continues to decline, CO2 can not be bound, and thus our atmosphere is unstable. To counteract this so-called greenhouse effect , man must protect or appreciate its forests more .
